Castillo de San Felipe is a coastal fortress in Puerto de la Cruz on the north coast of Tenerife in the Canary Islands. The fort was erected as part of the island’s maritime defences and sits adjacent to the town’s harbour.
The site comprises stone fortifications close to the shoreline and is visible from the seafront promenade; it has been incorporated into the urban fabric of Puerto de la Cruz.
The castle dates to the period when Canary Islands coastal defences were strengthened to respond to pirate raids and naval threats, and its masonry reflects that military function.
Located in northern Tenerife, the fortress is within the urban area of Puerto de la Cruz and readily reached from the town centre.
