How to Get to Cartago
Cartago (Valle del Cauca) is most conveniently reached via Cali's Alfonso Bonilla Aragón airport and then by intercity bus or taxi. Road connections are straightforward and frequent.
Cali-Alfonso Bonilla Aragón (CLO): The main airport serving Cartago (Valle del Cauca) is Cali’s Alfonso Bonilla Aragón International (about 30-50 km depending on route). From the airport you can take an intercity bus or taxi to Cartago (bus journey ~45-70 minutes, fares commonly COP 6,000-20,000; taxi ~COP 70,000-130,000, ~45-60 minutes).
Other airports: For international flights people sometimes arrive at Bogotá and continue by domestic flight or bus, but that is a considerably longer land transfer.
Train: Colombia’s passenger rail network is not available for standard intercity travel to Cartago; road transport is used instead.
Bus: Intermunicipal buses and coaches run frequently between Cali and Cartago from Cali’s bus terminal and the airport bus stops. Travel time is typically under 90 minutes and tickets are inexpensive-buses are the usual choice for local travellers.
