Carnegie Hall

Carnegie Hall is a concert complex in Midtown Manhattan, New York City, founded by philanthropist Andrew Carnegie and opened in 1891. It comprises multiple auditoria and is internationally renowned for classical music, performing arts and historic concerts.

The complex contains three primary performance spaces: the large Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage (the main hall), the mid-sized Zankel Hall and the intimate Weill Recital Hall, together covering a range of capacities and programming formats. The main hall seats roughly 2,800 and is celebrated for its acoustic qualities.

Since its opening the hall has hosted countless premieres, civic occasions and major artists across genres, operated continuously as a public performance venue and undergone conservation and upgrades to maintain historic fabric while updating technical systems.

Carnegie Hall is located at 881 Seventh Avenue at the corner of 57th Street in Midtown Manhattan, a short walk south of Central Park and within New York City’s dense cultural district.
