Carew Castle

Carew Castle is a medieval fortified site at Carew in Pembrokeshire, southwest Wales, with origins in the medieval period (Norman-era phases survive).

The site presents stone battlements, a central keep and domestic ranges set around a millpond and moat; visitors can walk the curtain walls and explore interior rooms and battlements. The adjacent tidal mill is part of the saved historic landscape and is interpreted for visitors.

The castle was established in the medieval centuries by Norman lords and was altered and extended over subsequent centuries, including later domestic remodelling in the Tudor period. It has passed through private ownership and later conservation as an historic monument.

The castle sits beside the Carew estuary in Pembrokeshire, close to the village of Carew in southwest Wales and within a rural estuarine landscape.
