Carbet Falls
Waterfall Series of waterfalls within Guadeloupe's tropical rainforest
Carbet Falls (Les Chutes du Carbet) are a series of waterfalls on the Carbet River on the island of Martinique in the Lesser Antilles. The site comprises multiple cascades set on the slopes of the Mount Pelée volcanic massif.
Visitors use marked hiking trails and constructed viewpoints to reach and view the falls; the site is managed for public access with paths and platforms that provide a range of vantage points. The cascades are approached by short to moderate walks through tropical forest.
The waterfalls are natural features formed by river courses on volcanic terrain; they have long been known locally and are a notable natural attraction on Martinique.
The falls sit on northern Martinique on the slopes of Mount Pelée, in a tropical island landscape. Access is by road from nearby towns on the island and then by foot along maintained trails.

How to Get to Carbet Falls #
Carbet Falls is reached from the island’s coastal towns (Gosier/Pointe-à-Pitre) via Route N1 and interior roads toward Parc National de la Guadeloupe. Signposted parking areas lead to trailheads; expect a 30-60 minute walk on maintained paths to reach viewing areas depending on which fall is chosen.
Tips for Visiting Carbet Falls #
- If visiting from Guadeloupe's main towns, hire a local driver familiar with narrow forest roads.
- Combine the visit with a hike in Parc National de la Guadeloupe for better context on volcanic geology.
