Car Nicobar is an island in the Nicobar group of the Indian union territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands. It is one of the northernmost islands in the Nicobar chain and is inhabited by local Nicobarese communities.

Beaches, coconut groves and village settlements form the main features of the island landscape, with limited tourist infrastructure compared with the Andaman Islands. The island is used for local fishing and subsistence activities and retains traditional cultural elements.

Car Nicobar has long been home to Nicobarese peoples and later came under British and then Indian administration with the rest of the archipelago. The island has experienced disruption from natural events such as earthquakes and tsunamis in the 21st century.

It lies in the northeastern Indian Ocean, north of Great Nicobar and to the south of the Andaman Islands, administratively part of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands territory of India.

  • Administration: Part of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands union territory of India and inhabited by Nicobarese communities with local village settlements.
