Cape Three Points is the southernmost headland of Ghana, located on the country’s Atlantic coast in the Western Region. It is recognised for marking Ghana’s extreme southern extent.

Visitors come for the headland’s coastal scenery, beaches and the historic lighthouse that sits on the point, as well as views across the Gulf of Guinea. The immediate area is sparsely developed with local fishing settlements and access paths down to rocky shoreline and small coves.

The point has served as a local maritime reference and fishing area for generations and later attracted a lighthouse to aid coastal navigation. Over time it has remained a geographic landmark rather than a large built-up site.

Located on Ghana’s southern coast on the Gulf of Guinea, Cape Three Points sits within the Western Region on a projecting headland into the Atlantic.

  • Southern tip: forms the southernmost point of Ghana's mainland coast
  • Local character: the headland is noted for coastal vegetation, small fishing communities and rocky shoreline access points
