Cape Buor-Khaya is a headland on the Arctic coast of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia) in Russia, projecting into the Laptev Sea. The cape is a fixed geographic feature used in regional mapping and navigation along the Siberian Arctic shoreline.
The immediate area is remote and characterised by tundra, permafrost and a climate dominated by long, cold winters with sea ice cover for much of the year. There are no significant settlements at the cape and access is by sea or ice routes in the short summer or by air to regional hubs followed by overland travel.
The cape functions as a coastal landmark within the Laptev Sea and appears on nautical charts and regional maps of Arctic Siberia. It is part of the extensive Arctic coastline of the Sakha Republic.
Geographically it lies on the northern Siberian coast of the Russian Federation, well north of the Arctic Circle and separated from major population centres by large distances across Arctic terrain.
- Arctic setting: Located on the Arctic coast of the Sakha Republic facing the Laptev Sea; the headland is subject to seasonal sea ice and polar conditions
