By Air

Carrasco International Airport (MVD): Carrasco is Montevideo’s main airport (about 40-50 km southeast of Canelones). From MVD you can take an airport shuttle or public bus to Montevideo (30-45 min to Tres Cruces) and then a local bus to Canelones (see bus card). A taxi or ride-hail from the airport to Canelones centre takes about 30-40 minutes; expect around UYU 1,200-1,800 depending on time of day and traffic.

By Train & Bus

Bus: Intercity buses run frequently between Montevideo (Tres Cruces bus terminal) and Canelones (company services include private carriers stopping at Canelones). The trip is about 30-45 minutes and typical fares are roughly UYU 60-150 depending on the service and seat class. Local collectivos and regional buses connect smaller towns in the department.
