Campo San Geremia
Square Venetian square adjoining San Geremia church and canal
Small Venetian square beside the Cannaregio canal, home to the San Geremia church; visitors pass through for canal viewpoints, local cafés and access to Santa Lucia station.
Campo San Geremia is a small campo in the Cannaregio district of Venice located on the Grand Canal near the Santa Lucia railway terminal. The square is defined by canal edges and the presence of the adjacent church.
The campo is a transit-oriented open space where visitors encounter the canal, boat traffic and the Church of San Geremia. The immediate area functions as a connector between the rail terminal and Venice’s vaporetto network.
The square sits beside the church building that gives it its name and has long served as part of the urban fabric linking transport and religious functions. The church and adjacent structures reflect the block-scale development typical of Venice’s canal-side campos.
Campo San Geremia occupies a canal-front position on the Grand Canal in Cannaregio, immediately outside the Santa Lucia rail station and within walking distance of Vaporetto stops and other Cannaregio waterways.
- Adjacent to Santa Lucia station: Sits directly beside Venice's Santa Lucia railway station and the Grand Canal vaporetto stops, making it one of the first canalside squares encountered by rail visitors.
What to See #
- Church of San Geremia: A Roman Catholic church standing on the campo, set beside a canal and close to vaporetto stops and the Santa Lucia rail terminal.
How to Get to Campo San Geremia #
Accessible on foot from Venezia Santa Lucia train station (about 10-15 minutes) via the Strada Nuova/Santa Croce route, or by vaporetto to nearby stops (lines serving the Cannaregio area).
