Cambridge Mosque, often called the Cambridge Central Mosque, is a purpose-built mosque in the city of Cambridge, England that opened in 2019. It is notable for its contemporary design and emphasis on environmental sustainability.
The complex includes a timber-structured main prayer hall, a landscaped courtyard and garden, and community and education rooms linked with the Cambridge Muslim College. The mosque is used for daily and Friday prayers, classes and outreach; it also runs guided tours and interfaith events.
The project was led by the Cambridge Muslim College and designed by Marks Barfield Architects. Construction and fit-out were completed in the late 2010s with an opening ceremony held in 2019.
The mosque stands on the edge of Cambridge city centre and is accessible from the city’s main streets by foot or local transport. It functions as both a place of worship and an educational and community hub for Cambridge and the wider region.
