Caldicot Castle

Caldicot Castle is a medieval fortress in Caldicot, Monmouthshire, Wales, with substantial surviving masonry including a stone keep and inner ward that have been conserved and interpreted for visitors.

The castle complex includes curtain walls, towers and residential ranges that illustrate medieval defensive and domestic arrangements; parts of the structure have been restored and fitted for visitor access. The surrounding grounds and moat remnants form a public park and are used for family events and historical reenactments.

The site originated as a Norman stronghold and was developed in the medieval period into a fortified manor and castle complex; it underwent later alterations and conservation in the 20th century to stabilise and present the ruins.

Caldicot Castle lies in the town of Caldicot in southeast Wales, close to the estuary of the River Severn and within easy reach of the larger towns of Newport and Chepstow.
