Caguana Ceremonial Ball Courts Site

The Caguana Ceremonial Ball Courts Site is a major Taíno archaeological complex in central Puerto Rico near Utuado, featuring multiple stone-lined bateyes or ceremonial ball courts and associated plazas. It is an important pre-Columbian site illustrating indigenous ceremonial and social practices.

Visitors find arranged stone courts, carved stones and petroglyphs set in a cleared plaza area, along with an onsite museum and information panels that explain Taíno culture and archaeological finds. The site is an interpreted archaeological park and a center for research into indigenous Caribbean societies.

Archaeological work has shown the complex dates to the late pre-Columbian era, and it has been protected and presented to the public for education and cultural conservation. The site sits inland in the hills near Utuado in central Puerto Rico and is accessed from regional roads.

The complex is managed for both conservation and public access, with trails linking the main courts and interpretive exhibits.
