Buseoksa

Buseoksa is a Buddhist temple complex near Yeongju in North Gyeongsang Province, South Korea, with origins in the Silla period. It is known for its historic wooden temple halls and preserved religious architecture.

The complex contains multiple timber-built halls set on a mountainside with stone terraces and approach paths, offering close-up views of traditional Korean temple architecture. Visitors commonly view the main worship halls, subsidiary buildings and stone features distributed along the site.

Founded in the Silla period in the 7th century by the monk Uisang, the temple was developed over subsequent centuries with additions and reconstructions in the Goryeo and Joseon eras. Several of its buildings and artefacts have been designated as important cultural properties.

Perched on a mountainside near Yeongju in inland North Gyeongsang Province, the temple sits within steep forested terrain and is reached by local roads and well-signposted mountain approaches.
