Burgruine Mödling is a medieval castle ruin overlooking the town of Mödling in Lower Austria. The ruin occupies a hillside position that commands views over the town and the surrounding Vienna Woods.
Remnants on the site include stretches of curtain wall and foundation outlines where the castle fabric has survived; the ruin is a local historic landmark rather than a restored fortress. The area is used for short walks and local heritage visits.
The original castle dates to the medieval period and fell into disuse and ruin over subsequent centuries; it is recorded in regional historic surveys as part of the area’s medieval defensive network.
The ruin stands immediately above Mödling’s old town, roughly south of central Vienna, in the foothills of the Wienerwald.
