From central Copenhagen: about 30-40 minutes by car via Route 19 (Hillerødmotorvejen) or by regional train to Hillerød followed by local bus/taxi. Parking is available at public access points; cycle routes also connect from surrounding suburbs.

- Rent a small boat from nearby marinas to explore the lake's northern coves-shore access is limited in places.
- Late afternoon light along the eastern shore is excellent for photos of water and reed beds.
- Watch for local anglers' spots; catch-and-release is common and often requested by residents.
