Mountain Prominent peak in the Hindu Kush range
A high, glaciated peak in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa that attracts technical climbers and alpinists. Expeditions come for steep routes, crevassed glaciers and long approaches through remote Hindu Kush terrain.
Buni Zom is a high mountain massif in the borderlands of northern Pakistan’s mountainous ranges, within Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. It forms part of the higher peaks that lie north of the Chitral valley.
The area attracts technical mountain climbers seeking high-altitude routes on steep rock and glaciated faces; approach travel is remote and typically undertaken as an expedition rather than a day trip.
Peaks in this part of the Hindu Raj and adjacent ranges have been visited by foreign and local mountaineering teams since the mid-20th century; many summits required organised expeditions due to remoteness and technical terrain.
Buni Zom lies north of the main valley of Chitral in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, in the mountainous border region close to Afghanistan; access is from mountain valleys north of Chitral town.
- Elevation and climbing character: The peak rises to an altitude above 6,000 metres and presents mixed ice and rock routes favored by experienced mountaineers.
