Buffalo Pound Provincial Park is a Saskatchewan provincial park located on the shores of Buffalo Pound Lake, protecting shoreline, prairie and valley landscapes that support recreation and regional watershed values.

The park is centered on Buffalo Pound Lake and offers beaches, boat launches, fishing access and campgrounds suitable for family recreation; several marked trails and lookouts line the Qu’Appelle Valley. Visitors use the park for swimming, boating and shoreline picnics in summer, and for birdwatching and short hikes in shoulder seasons.

The area was set aside for recreation and conservation by provincial authorities in the 20th century to protect both recreational values and portions of the Buffalo Pound watershed. Facilities have been developed incrementally to support camping and day-use activities while conserving shoreline habitat.

  • When to go: The park is popular for summer lake recreation and birdwatching along the Qu'Appelle Valley; mornings and evenings are best for wildlife viewing.
  • Practical tip: Bring insect repellent in warmer months-shoreline and wetland edges attract mosquitoes and biting flies during summer.
