Brattleboro Travel Guide

Brattleboro is an historic small city right on the Vermont-New Hampshire border in the Connecticut River Valley in the northeast. Home to Rudyard Kipling for a time and surrounded by lush mountains, Brattleboro serves as a gateway to Vermont and is a popular year-round destination for tourists - particularly summer canoeists.

Brattleboro dates back to 1724 with the founding of Fort Drummer and is loaded with galleries, museums and shops. The vibrant downtown area is nice and compact with pretty architecture and is ideal for strolling. In addition, the town’s combination of 19th century charm, 1960s funkiness and hillside setting give Brattleboro a great look and feel.

Those into the arts might like to take a look at the Brattleboro Museum and Arts Center, the Brattleboro Music Center, and the River Valley Performing Arts Center, while Vermont State Park is ideal for the outdoors type.
