Bozcaada district

Bozcaada district is an island district of Çanakkale Province in the northern Aegean Sea, historically known as Tenedos. The island is noted for its small historic town, a harbour-front castle and a long tradition of viticulture.

Visitors are drawn to the compact medieval waterfront, the restored Bozcaada Castle, local vineyards and a range of beaches and sheltered coves used for swimming and watersports. Narrow streets lined with stone houses and small boutique accommodations are concentrated in the town center.

The island has a history stretching back to antiquity under the name Tenedos and later periods of Venetian and Ottoman control, evident in fortifications and town layout. Today it combines seasonal tourism with continuing local wine production.

Geographically Bozcaada lies off the southwest Turkish coast in the northern Aegean Sea, administratively part of Çanakkale Province and reached by ferry from the nearby mainland.
