Boubín is a mountain in the Šumava (Bohemian Forest) region of the South Bohemian Region in the Czech Republic. It is notable for its elevation and for containing an area of primeval mountain forest.
The principal attraction is the primeval forest reserve on its slopes, where old-growth beech and mixed stands are left largely undisturbed; marked trails lead to viewpoints near the summit. Hikers use a network of paths to reach the top and to view the surrounding Šumava landscape.
The mountain has been recognised for its natural forest values and long-term protection of native woodland. The peak and forest have been the subject of conservation measures to preserve native tree communities and associated wildlife.
Boubín lies within the Šumava region of South Bohemia, in the western part of the Czech Republic, and is accessed from nearby mountain villages and forest roads within the national/landscape protection areas of the Bohemian Forest.
