Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park is a large protected area in central Georgia surrounding the resort town of Borjomi and extending into adjacent mountain tracts. The park covers a broad area of forested mountains, deep gorges and alpine ridges and is among the country’s largest national parks.

Visitors use the park for hiking, forest walks, wildlife observation and access to the historic Borjomi spa town and its mineral springs. The landscape includes mixed deciduous and coniferous forests, mountain meadows and extensive trail networks.

The park was established in 1995 to protect these forests, watersheds and biodiversity while developing sustainable visitor access. The Borjomi resort area has been associated with mineral springs and spa tourism since the 19th century and serves as the primary gateway for park visitors.

Geographically the park surrounds the town of Borjomi in central Georgia and stretches across nearby ridges and valleys, forming a major protected block in the country’s interior.

• Borjomi Gorge and town: Borjomi Gorge and the town of Borjomi provide the principal access points and visitor infrastructure for the park, including mineral springs and spa facilities historically linked to the resort town.
• Likani and ridge areas: The Likani area and surrounding forested ridges offer hiking trails, viewpoints and mountain terrain inside the park’s boundaries.
• Kharagauli sector: The Kharagauli sector contains large tracts of mixed mountain forest and is one of the park’s principal wild zones for biodiversity and longer backcountry routes.

The park’s main gateways are near Borjomi town, which is accessible by train and road from Tbilisi (about 2 hours by car or rail). From Borjomi, local buses and taxis serve trailheads; some sectors require 4x4 access.

• Hire local guides for multi‑day treks; trails can be remote and weather shifts rapidly.
• Visit Borjomi town to sample the mineral water and to see the park's lower‑elevation trails before attempting higher treks.
