Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park

Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park is a large protected area in central Georgia surrounding the resort town of Borjomi and extending into adjacent mountain tracts. The park covers a broad area of forested mountains, deep gorges and alpine ridges and is among the country’s largest national parks.

Visitors use the park for hiking, forest walks, wildlife observation and access to the historic Borjomi spa town and its mineral springs. The landscape includes mixed deciduous and coniferous forests, mountain meadows and extensive trail networks.

The park was established in 1995 to protect these forests, watersheds and biodiversity while developing sustainable visitor access. The Borjomi resort area has been associated with mineral springs and spa tourism since the 19th century and serves as the primary gateway for park visitors.

Geographically the park surrounds the town of Borjomi in central Georgia and stretches across nearby ridges and valleys, forming a major protected block in the country’s interior.

• Kharagauli sector: The Kharagauli sector contains large tracts of mixed mountain forest and is one of the park's principal wild zones for biodiversity and longer backcountry routes.
