Bonefish Pond National Park

Bonefish Pond National Park is a protected coastal wetland area on New Providence in The Bahamas, preserving mangrove, salt-pond and shallow-lagoon habitat. It is important as a nursery area for bonefish and as feeding and roosting habitat for shorebirds and other coastal wildlife.

The park consists mainly of mangrove forest, tidal channels and shallow ponds that support birdwatching, shoreline wildlife observation and non-motorized boating in permitted areas. Recreational angling for bonefish is a local use but regulations and seasonal restrictions may apply.

The wetland complex has long been used by local fishers and as a resource for nearby communities; it is managed to conserve fisheries habitat and bird populations while balancing adjacent development pressures. Conservation actions have focused on protecting mangroves and water quality.
