Bogdana Monastery

Bogdana Monastery is an Orthodox monastic complex located in the town of Rădăuți in Suceava County, northeastern Romania, and is one of the oldest surviving monastic foundations in the historic Principality of Moldavia. It is particularly known for its 14th-century church and its role as a dynastic burial place for Moldavian rulers.

The principal highlight is the medieval stone church and the necropolis contained within and beside it, where several members of the Moldavian ruling family are buried; the interior preserves historic funerary monuments and painted elements. Visitors commonly come to see the church architecture and the princely tombs.

The monastery was founded in the mid 14th century by Prince Bogdan I of Moldavia around 1360 and subsequently served both religious and dynastic functions for the region.
