How to Get to Bochnia
Bochnia is easily reached from Kraków airport or Kraków railway hub via a straightforward regional train connection. Local buses and taxis handle shorter trips inside the district.
Kraków John Paul II (KRK): Kraków is the nearest major international airport (about 35-45 km from Bochnia). From the airport you can take a direct train to Kraków Główny (~20 minutes, low-cost fare) and then a regional train to Bochnia (~30-40 minutes); combined transfer time around 1-1.5 hours depending on connections.
Katowice (KTW) / Rzeszów (RZE): These airports are farther away and not commonly used for Bochnia unless you find a cheaper flight; transfer times by train or bus will be substantially longer (2+ hours).
Train: Bochnia has a PKP railway station with frequent regional connections to Kraków (Kraków Główny) and Tarnów. Regional train from Kraków takes about 30-40 minutes and single fares are typically in the low-PLN range for regional services.
Bus: Buses serve the town and nearby villages; PKS and private carriers run routes to Kraków and other towns. Bus journeys to Kraków take about 45-70 minutes depending on route and cost roughly PLN 8-20.
How to Get Around Bochnia #
Bochnia’s historic centre is compact and easy to walk around; most visitors find walking the best way to see the market square and town streets. The town has a train station with regular regional services to Kraków and other nearby cities. Local buses and taxis connect neighbourhoods; short bus fares are inexpensive (a few złoty for inner-town trips). A car helps if you plan to visit nearby attractions or the countryside.
