B&O Railroad Museum

The B&O Railroad Museum in Baltimore, Maryland, interprets the history of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad and preserves one of the largest collections of American railroad equipment. The site combines museum galleries with a historic rail yard and locomotive exhibits.

Exhibits include an extensive roster of locomotives and cars (more than 150 pieces), indoor displays in a 19th-century roundhouse, and outdoor exhibits in the Mount Clare yard. The museum also runs rotating exhibits and occasional demonstration or excursion events that showcase operational equipment.

The museum was established to preserve and interpret the legacy of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad, one of the earliest U.S. railroads chartered in 1827, and it is located on the original Mount Clare property that served as the B&O’s early terminal and workshops. The site preserves historic rail buildings alongside the collection.

The museum sits adjacent to Camden Station and near Oriole Park at Camden Yards in south Baltimore, within easy walking distance of downtown Baltimore’s Inner Harbor area.
