The BMW Headquarters in Munich is the administrative centre for BMW Group, located in the Milbertshofen district near the Olympic Park. The cylindrical four-tower design was completed in the early 1970s and is a landmark example of postwar corporate architecture.
The building was designed by architect Karl Schwanzer and constructed for BMW in the period around the 1972 Munich Olympic Games to consolidate corporate offices. It has served continuously as BMW Group headquarters since completion and the surrounding museum and public facilities were developed soon after.
The site sits north of central Munich, adjacent to the Olympiapark in the borough of Milbertshofen-Am Hart. It is well connected by public transport and within easy reach of the city centre.
- Access: The tower itself is not generally open to the public, but the nearby museum and BMW Welt provide public access to company exhibits and deliveries.
- Best view: The five-storey four-cylinder silhouette is best viewed from the adjoining Olympiapark and from the pedestrian areas near the museum.
