About Bingin#
Bingin is a small, cliff-backed surf beach on the western side of the Bukit Peninsula in southern Bali. Tucked below steep limestone cliffs and reached by a scramble down narrow stairways, it is a deliberately low-key escape from the crowds of nearby Kuta, with a scatter of simple warungs and guesthouses clinging to the rock face.
The beach is best known for its surf. A fast, hollow reef break peels over shallow coral just offshore, drawing experienced surfers from around the world, while the golden sand appears at low tide beneath the cliffs. At high tide the sea washes almost to the rocks, and the sunsets over the Indian Ocean are the day’s main event for those watching from the cliff-top cafes.
Bingin sits in the middle of the Bukit’s celebrated surf coast. A short walk or drive along the clifftops reaches the neighboring breaks of Dreamland and Impossibles, while the famous clifftop temple of Uluwatu lies just to the south. The relaxed, slightly bohemian mood is a big part of the draw.

Bingin Janggut, on lowland Sumatra, has a tropical rainforest climate with warm temperatures year-round and a pronounced rainy season around December-March. The most dependable travel weather is during the dry months from June to September; the wet season brings frequent heavy showers and higher humidity.
