Ziguinchor - Ouédigmane / Ziguinchor Airport (ZIG): The nearest airport for Casamance arrivals; from Ziguinchor city you can reach Bignona by road. Road transfers typically take 1.5-2.5 hours depending on stops and security checks; expect taxi or private transfer costs around 5,000-10,000 XOF (approx.) for a private car.
Banjul (BJL) / Dakar (DSS): If coming from abroad with more flight options, Dakar’s Blaise Diagne (DSS) is the major international hub; overland travel to the Casamance region often involves a longer domestic flight or an overland coach and ferry combination, taking many hours to a day depending on route and connections.
Train: There is no active national passenger rail serving the lower Casamance to Bignona; rail travel is not a practical option.

Expect crowded conditions and variable departure times; agree price or use the published fare at the station when possible.
- Regional coach / bus (1,500-4,000 XOF) - Larger coaches operate between main towns at set times and are more comfortable for longer journeys. Book at the station where available; coaches are slower than private cars but safer for luggage and longer-distance travel. Timetables can change seasonally.
- Private taxi / hire car (5,000-12,000 XOF (whole vehicle)) - Hiring a private car or taxi gives door-to-door convenience, useful for early-morning or late-night travel and for sites off the main roads. Negotiate a fixed fare beforehand. Fuel and driver costs make private transfers substantially more expensive than shared options.
- Motorbike taxi / local tuk-tuk (200-700 XOF) - In and around Bignona town short hops by motorcycle taxi are common for quick errands. They are inexpensive and fast but expose you to weather and road dust; always agree the fare first and wear a helmet where available.
