Bezděz Castle is a medieval fortress in the Liberec Region of the Czech Republic, constructed in the 13th century and historically used as a royal stronghold. It stands on a distinct basalt hill and is a well-known Romantic-period ruin that retains a striking silhouette above the surrounding landscape.
Visitors explore the keep, inner ward and fragments of curtain walls and chapels, and can walk to viewpoints that look out over the adjacent countryside and Máchovo jezero (Mácha’s Lake) area.
