Beverley Minster

Beverley Minster is the large parish church in the market town of Beverley in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England, renowned for its high Gothic architecture and long medieval construction history. It functions as both a parish church and a major historic monument.

Interiors show the scale of English Gothic design with a long nave, aisles and an elaborately treated choir area; stone vaulting, carved details and stained glass are among the principal attractions. The church remains in regular liturgical use and hosts concerts and choral services that draw visitors.

The present Minster was largely built and rebuilt in phases from the early 13th century through to the early 16th century, replacing earlier Anglo-Saxon and Norman structures on the site. Over time it has been altered and restored but retains major medieval fabric and later historic fittings.

Situated in the centre of Beverley in East Yorkshire, the Minster lies within the town’s historic core roughly a dozen kilometres north of the port city of Kingston upon Hull.
