How to Get to Berkshires
By car: About 2.5-3 hours west of Boston via the Mass Pike (I-90) to exits for Lee/Pittsfield or via I-91 and Route 7A for a more scenic approach. By rail: Amtrak serves Pittsfield seasonally and year-round service to nearby Springfield; rental car recommended to reach dispersed towns. By air: Albany International Airport is roughly 50-60 miles south; Bradley (Hartford) and Boston Logan are further but possible.

- Arrive early for Tanglewood lawn seats-park at the Lenox Commons and take the shuttle to avoid the worst parking crush.
- Drive the 7A corridor (Route 7A) at dawn for woodland light and empty vistas; stop in Stockbridge to see Norman Rockwell Museum's paintings before crowds build.
- In fall, use back roads through Savoy and Cheshire rather than the Mass Pike to savor foliage and avoid Berkshire traffic.
- Buy tickets for Jacob's Pillow and MASS MoCA in advance-weekend performances and special exhibitions sell out fast.
