Bering Land Bridge National Preserve is a protected area on Alaskas Seward Peninsula that conserves landscapes and cultural sites associated with the former land connection between Asia and North America. It is managed to protect both natural ecosystems and archaeological evidence of past human migrations and occupations.

The preserve encompasses tundra, river valleys and coastal environments important for wildlife and for archaeological sites that document millennia of human presence. Visits are typically undertaken for wildlife viewing, archaeology, subsistence landscapes and remote wilderness experiences rather than for developed visitor facilities.

The protected status was established to conserve the areas natural and cultural resources; management is by the U.S. National Park Service with an emphasis on research, monitoring and cooperation with local communities. The area has seen archaeological investigations that document long-term human use of the region.

The preserve lies on the Seward Peninsula in northwest Alaska; the nearest regional communities are small coastal villages and the larger regional hub is Nome, reached by air or seasonal boat and road connections. The terrain is remote and access commonly requires air transport or long overland travel.

  • Remote access and services: Best visited with preparation and logistical support - there are no developed visitor services inside the preserve and access is seasonally dependent.
