Belweder

Belweder is a neoclassical palace in Warsaw, Poland, situated close to Łazienki Park and the city’s Royal Route. It dates from the late 18th to early 19th century and has been used as a residence for Polish heads of state.

The palace contains state rooms and period interiors that illustrate its official and representative functions. Public access is restricted at times because the building has served as an official residence and venue for state events.

Built as an aristocratic villa and substantially rebuilt in classical style in the early 19th century, the palace later became associated with Polish national leadership and politics. It served notably as the residence of Marshal Józef Piłsudski in the interwar years and continued to play official roles through the 20th century.

Belweder sits just south of central Warsaw, adjacent to Łazienki Park and along the historical Royal Route linking the old town with the southern parkland. It is easily reached from the central districts of the city.
