Belum Temenggor Forest Reserve

Belum Temenggor Forest Reserve is a large protected forest area in northern Perak, Malaysia, forming part of the wider Belum-Temengor complex. It includes extensive lowland and hill rainforest and freshwater habitats that are important for regional biodiversity.

Boat trips on the central freshwater lake, forest trails and areas of older-growth forest in the Royal Belum section that support a wide range of wildlife and birdlife. The reserve is used for eco-tourism activities such as guided jungle trekking and boat-based access to remote forest islands and peninsulas.

The area has been managed as a forest reserve and conservation landscape for decades, with state and federal authorities, plus conservation groups, working on protection and sustainable use. Protection efforts focus on maintaining habitat connectivity and protecting species-rich forest areas.

Geographically it sits in northern Perak near the border with Thailand, with the town of Gerik serving as a common access point for visitors and researchers heading into the reserve.
