Beata Island (Isla Beata) is an uninhabited island off the southern coast of the Dominican Republic, administratively part of Pedernales Province. It lies off the southwestern tip of Hispaniola and forms part of the region’s coastal island groups.
The island is known for dry coastal vegetation, coral reefs and marine habitats that support seabirds and fish populations, and it is visited mainly for diving, snorkeling and scientific or conservation work. There are no permanent settlements and access is by private boat only.
Beata Island is included within the broader protected landscapes and marine areas of southwestern Hispaniola and is managed under Dominican environmental protections for coastal and insular habitats. It sits in the Caribbean Sea off the coast of Pedernales Province and is visible from parts of the southwestern mainland coast.
