How to Get to Bayaguana
Bayaguana is a municipality in Monte Plata Province east of Santo Domingo. Most visitors arrive via Las Américas (SDQ) and continue by road-either private transfer, taxi, or intercity bus-to reach the town.
Las Américas International Airport (SDQ): The main airport serving Santo Domingo and the surrounding region. Bayaguana lies to the northeast of the capital; road transfers from SDQ to Bayaguana typically take about 45-75 minutes depending on traffic, with taxis or private transfers costing roughly RD$700-1,800.
Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ): For visitors arriving from the east, Punta Cana is a major international gateway but is farther from Bayaguana (several hours’ drive). From PUJ a mix of private transfer and intercity bus services will be required for the final leg.
Train: The Dominican Republic has no passenger rail network serving Bayaguana; road transport is the default.
Bus: Intercity buses and shared vans operate from Santo Domingo to towns in Monte Plata and the surrounding region. Local minibuses and shared taxis connect Bayaguana with Santo Domingo; expect journey times of 1-1.5 hours and very low fares for public services (typically under RD$200 for standard guaguas).
