How to Get to Barrier Lake #
Barrier Lake is on Kananaskis Country’s Highway 40 (Kananaskis Trail) in Alberta. From Calgary drive west on the Trans‑Canada Highway (Highway 1) and then south/west on Highway 40 to the Barrier Lake day‑use area and parking - the drive from Calgary is about 80-100 km and typically takes around 1-1.5 hours. Barrier Lake is also reachable from Canmore by road (roughly 35-45 km); a vehicle is the usual way to access trailheads and the lakeshore.
