Baltimore Memorial Stadium
Park Former Baltimore multi-purpose stadium, demolished 2001
Baltimore Memorial Stadium stood on the city’s west side as the Orioles’ and Colts’ former home; sports historians and old-timers visit the site for its local sporting legacy.
Baltimore Memorial Stadium, commonly called Memorial Stadium, was a multi-purpose stadium located on 33rd Street in Baltimore, Maryland, that hosted both professional baseball and American football. It was a principal large sports venue for the city through much of the 20th century.
The stadium hosted professional teams including the Baltimore Orioles and the Baltimore Colts, in addition to college football and other events. Its seating configuration and capacity changed over time to accommodate different sports and crowd sizes.
Constructed in the early 20th century and substantially rebuilt mid-century, the facility’s use declined after new stadiums opened and its major tenants moved away; the structure was taken down in the early 2000s. The site is located in north-central Baltimore near the University neighborhood and major city arteries.
- Major tenants: Served as the long-time home stadium for the Baltimore Colts (NFL) and Baltimore Orioles (MLB) during much of the 20th century.
- Demolition: The stadium was demolished in the early 2000s after both major league teams relocated to newer facilities in Baltimore.
