How to Get to Ballon d'Alsace #
Ballon d’Alsace (Col du Ballon d’Alsace) is reached by car from nearby Belfort (around 25-35 km) or Mulhouse (about 45-55 km) via the regional departmental roads that climb into the Vosges massif (routes such as the D466/D27 in the Ballon d’Alsace area - follow local signs for the Col/Ballon d’Alsace). There is parking at the pass/visitor area; from there many marked hiking trails start and short walks lead to viewpoints.

- Drive or cycle up the Col du Ballon d'Alsace and arrive early for the best chance of clear panoramic views toward the Vosges, Jura and Black Forest before valley mists form.
- If you're photographing the summit landscape, walk a short distance off the car park to the main ridge viewpoint - many visitors don't bother and miss the best unbroken vistas.
