Baengnyeongdo sits in the Yellow Sea off Korea’s west coast, administratively part of Ongjin County, Incheon, and is one of the westernmost populated South Korean islands.

  • Border proximity: Located very close to the maritime boundary with North Korea, the island has military facilities alongside civilian settlements and ferry services connect it to the mainland province of Incheon.
