How to Get to Azat Reservoir #
Approximately 30-40 km east of Yerevan; reachable by car along the M4 highway toward Garni. Regular minibuses (marshrutkas) run from Yerevan’s Kilikia bus station to Garni; the reservoir is a short walk from the Garni village center.
Tips for Visiting Azat Reservoir #
- Combine a visit with nearby Garni Temple and Geghard Monastery - the Azat valley is best seen as a circuit.
- Bring binoculars for cliff birds and watch for local anglers fishing from the shore.
- Avoid heavy rain - the dam and access roads can be muddy and slippery after storms.
