Avicii Arena, formerly known as the Ericsson Globe or Globen, is a large spherical indoor arena in the Johanneshov district of Stockholm. It is widely described as the world’s largest spherical building, with a diameter of about 110 metres and a height of roughly 85 metres.
The arena hosts concerts, ice hockey and large public events with a typical capacity of around 16,000 for major shows. The exterior features the SkyView gondola attraction that carries visitors to a viewing cabin near the top of the sphere for panoramic views across Stockholm.
Opened in the late 1980s as part of the Stockholm Globe complex, the arena forms a prominent landmark on the southern approaches to central Stockholm and is served by the Globen metro station and other public transport links. It was renamed Avicii Arena in 2021 in memory of the Swedish musician Avicii and to support related charitable initiatives.
The site is part of a larger entertainment and sports precinct that includes secondary arenas and event facilities; it is frequently used for international sporting fixtures and large-scale cultural events.
