Aukštaitija National Park is a protected area in northeastern Lithuania, established to conserve a landscape of lakes, forests and traditional villages characteristic of the Aukštaitija region. It is one of Lithuania’s leading national parks for nature-based recreation and cultural heritage.
The park features numerous lakes connected by waterways, forested uplands and marked trails for hiking and paddling. Visitors come for canoeing, birdwatching, forest walks and to visit historic wooden churches and ethnographic villages that illustrate traditional rural life.
