How to Get to Ash Shafa
Ash Shafa in the Mecca Province is best reached via Taif Regional Airport or by road from Jeddah/Riyadh followed by a road transfer. The mountain access road from Taif provides the final climb into the Shafa and Al Hada highland area.
Taif Regional Airport (TIF): The nearest airport to the al-Shafa area; it handles domestic flights and is the most convenient arrival point for visitors to the Sarawat foothills. From Taif airport a taxi or private car will take about 40-70 minutes to reach Ash Shafa depending on traffic and the exact mountain route.
King Abdulaziz International Airport, Jeddah (JED): Jeddah is a larger international alternative; from Jeddah the drive to Ash Shafa is longer (typically 2-3+ hours) and best done by private car or pre-arranged transfer.
Train: Saudi Arabia’s passenger rail network does not serve Ash Shafa directly; rail travel is not a practical option for the final leg into the Taif highlands.
Bus / Coach: Intercity buses run to Taif city from Jeddah and Riyadh; from Taif city you must take a taxi or local hire up into the Shafa/Al Hada area. Road transfers from Taif typically take under 1-1.5 hours to reach mountain resorts.
