Arholma

Arholma is an inhabited island in the northern Stockholm archipelago in Stockholm County, Sweden, and part of the coastal Roslagen area. It is known locally as a small island community with maritime and coastal character.

The island offers rocky shorelines, a small harbour and a prominent lighthouse and shoreline outcrops that visitors commonly photograph. There are short walking paths, sheltered bays for swimming and mooring space for visiting boats; the scale is that of a small archipelago island rather than a developed resort.

Historically the island has been used for fishing, navigation and coastal pilotage and later developed summer housing and local services for islanders. Over time many properties have become seasonal homes while a small permanent community remains.

Geographically it sits in the northern part of the Stockholm archipelago, in Norrtälje municipality, roughly 80 km northeast of central Stockholm by straight-line distance. The island is surrounded by typical archipelago skerries and channels.

• Access: Accessible only by boat; regular seasonal archipelago ferry services and private boats connect the island with the mainland.
• Wildlife and views: Good for seabird watching and coastal walks along exposed granite shores; shoreline paths and low cliffs give wide views of the northern Stockholm archipelago.
