Arevik National Park is a protected area in Syunik Province in southern Armenia, established to conserve montane and semi-desert ecosystems. It lies in the extreme south of the country near the Iranian border.
The park protects juniper woodlands, dry steppe and mountain terrain used for hiking, birdwatching and nature study. Trails and day routes are the main visitor activities rather than developed facilities.
Arevik was created by the Armenian government to conserve local biodiversity and landscapes; it is managed under national-level protected-area rules. The park’s boundaries and regulations were set in the 21st century as part of Armenia’s protected-area network.
Geographically it sits in southern Syunik Province close to the Araks/Aras river corridor and the Armenia-Iran border, in a zone of steep ridges and highland plateaus.
- Best time to visit: Most accessible between late spring and early autumn when trails are snow-free and wildflowers are at their peak.
- Wildlife highlights: Home to juniper woodlands and semi-desert steppe that support raptors and endemic plants, making it a focus for birdwatching and botanical surveys.
