Archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki

The Archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki is the principal museum in Thessaloniki for finds from Macedonia and the surrounding region, covering periods from prehistory through late antiquity. It presents material from major local sites and serves as a central repository for northern Greek archaeology.

Displays include sculpture, pottery, mosaics and funerary objects arranged in chronological galleries that trace the cultural development of the region. Several rooms are dedicated to Hellenistic and Roman-period art and everyday objects recovered from nearby archaeological sites.

The museum was established to consolidate and present regional archaeological collections and has undergone expansions and reorganisations to improve display and conservation facilities. It functions both as a public exhibition space and as a research centre for regional archaeology.
