The Araz reservoir is a man-made reservoir on the Aras (Araz) River in West Azerbaijan province of Iran, located along the Iran-Azerbaijan border. It was created by damming the Aras River.
The reservoir exists as a result of dam construction on the Aras River; its creation altered the river’s flow and formed an international cross-border water body. Uses have included water storage associated with river regulation.
Located in northwestern Iran’s West Azerbaijan province, the reservoir follows the Aras River along the frontier with the Republic of Azerbaijan.
